On May 1, International Workers Day, rallies and marches are planned for cities in the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Cruz County, and the Central Valley. Demonstrators will call for action in defense of jobs, families, immigrant rights, and unions.

In the city of Hayward participants will gather at Weeks Park at 10 am, rally, then march to the City Hall to demand passage of an ordinance that would make Hayward a Sanctuary City. At UC Berkeley a rally is planned that will begin at 11:30am at Sproul Plaza, followed by a march at 1:30pm to Ashby Bart. In Oakland a 3:30-4:30pm Program at Fruitvale Plaza will be followed by a march to City Hall.
