Oaxaca Film Screening and Update in Watsonville and Santa Cruz
True to My Pledge ("Compromiso Cumplido") on August 16th and 17th
On August 16th, the new film True to My Pledge, by Mal de Ojo TV, screened at a meeting of the Brown Berets in Watsonville. On August 17th, Latinoamerican musicians TONALI performed at the Resource Center for Nonviolence in Santa Cruz, followed by an update on the peoples' struggles in Oaxaca from Miguel Zafra, a screening of True to My Pledge and a discussion about the formation of a new group, "Santa Cruz - Oaxaca Solidarity."
True to My Pledge ("Compromiso Cumplido") is the first of a two-part documentary about the human rights violations during the current conflict in Oaxaca. The film documents some of the horrors committed against the civil society of Oaxaca, and shows the strategy of state terrorism employed by the local governor. Numerous deaths have been reported, and yet there have been no criminal accusations or investigations for these murders. Read More and Download the Flyer
