On August 2nd, there was a memorial die-in in front of the Federal Building in San Francisco to honor Berkeley activist Hal Carlstad. Video 1 | 2

Hal Carlstad died on June 12th. He was a consummate anti-death penalty, anti-war, environmental, and civil rights activist. He was a frequent protester on behalf of People's Park, the Headwaters Forest, nuclear disarmament, Cuba, Haiti, Palestine, and El Salvador. In the past year Hal was active in defense of the oak grove next to Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

Several Bay Area anti-war groups have been sponsoring a monthly die-In at the Federal Building on the first Thursday of every month until the Iraq Occupation Ends. The August 2nd die-in was chosen to honor Hal.
