Protesters Tell Wells Fargo to Stop Lootin’ and Pollutin’
SF Protest Demands Corporate Responsibility
Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace and Amazon watch held a protest at 8am on Monday, September 18th to demand corporate responsibility from Wells Fargo, Kimberly Clark, Monsanto, and ConocoPhillips. Representatives of these companies, as well as some 200 other CEO's, were meeting at an Investors Conference at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco. Robbin Hood made a surprise appearance at the Investors Conference, calling for weath redistribution.

The protest in large part focused on demanding a stop to the "lootin’ and pollutin’" of Wells Fargo. The bank funds environmentally and socially destructive companies around the world. In Appalachia, Wells Fargo finances coal operators that are engaged in mountaintop removal, a strip mining process known for its destructive effect on eco-systems and local communities. In Alaska, they support efforts to undermine environmental protections and speed up the rate of forest destruction. In the Amazon, they have financed the disenfranchisement of indigenous nations and the clear cutting of pristine rainforest.
