Faultlines and Indybay Host Free Anti-Gentrification Event in San Francisco
Housing Activists to Screen "Boom: The Sound of Eviction" on August 16th
Fault Lines and Indybay present an
evening of anti-gentrification entertainment and education on Wednesday, August 16th. The night will feature a
free screening of the documentary film "Boom: The Sound of Eviction", and a discussion with "Boom" director A. Mark Liiv,
Lupe Arreola from St. Peter's Housing Committee, and members of the
Defend Bayview Hunter's Point coalition.
"Boom" exposes the massive gentrification of the Mission during the dot-com era and how local groups successfully defended the homes of long-time residents. Defend BVHP will talk about its resistance to the current redevelopment plan that threatens to displace many of the City's few remaining black residents. This free event takes place at 8pm on August 16th at Station 40, 3030 B 16th St (at Mission St, across from BART). Read more about the speakers and the event.
