At 4:45pm on Saturday, the reportedly police told the campers to take down their tents as well as their signs that were on the fence near the building. The campers were given a 30 minute deadline. Police suggested that the protesters spend the chilly night in their cars, although this would not work for supporters who had taken public transit or were used wheelchairs. Read more
At 8:35pm on Saturday, Indybay received a report that Camp Casey was still there. David Solnit was teaching a workshop, ANSWER was handing out leaflets, and NION was there, as well. The police had not returned, but Ross Mirkarimi did come by. A candlelight vigil was held at 9pm, and an interfaith prayer service was held at 10:30 on Sunday morning.
Camp Ken was held in San Jose in Cesar Chavez Plaza. The camp was named after the son of local Gold Star mom Karen Ballard.
