European Anti-Capitalists Barricade G8 Leaders During Attempted Shut Down of Summit, Protests Continue through Tuesday
G8 Tuesday Update
6/3: The Camp de Bourdonette in Lausanne was evicted this morning, and a peaceful demo (no teargas!) took place in Lausanne. People are starting to evaluate the last few days. Although all demos in the last days started off cheerful and full of positive vibes, many people were injured during the anti-G8 demos by massive police teargassing, rubber bullets and concussion grenades. Peaceful protesters have stated their solidarity with the blockades carried out by Black Bloc activists. A disobedient solidarity action has taken place in
Barcelona when 21 activists occupied the French consulate for 12 hours. In Berlin 40 activists who had just returned from Geneva demonstrated outside the Swiss embassy during which the Swiss embassador stated his rejection to the police violence during the G8 summit.
Geneva Update
6/2: It is 10AM in Geneva. After a day of peaceful protests, mixed with fighting with riot police and building flaming barricades in the streets, protesters are temporarily regrouping. According to Indymedia dispatch, "the G8 is still going on, so it is safe to assume the protests will keep going on." Earlier in the day, the Indymedia Geneva office was raided while live internet TV broadcast the police invasion live. An unconfirmed 11 Indymedia people were arrested during the raid. There is a legal update and photos at the Indymedia G8 site.
