4/1/01: In the latest episode of the Republicrat war on education, Edison Schools, Inc. may appeal to the State Board of Education the SF school board's decision to place Edison on probation and give the company 90 days to fix problems reported at the Edison Charter Academy. In a still-unfinished study, the city school board found that Edison has discriminated against black students, sent special education students to other campuses, and hasn't given the district records that track public dollars the school uses. Company officials have denied any wrongdoing. Newly-appointed State Board of Education member Donald Fisher, better known as founder of The Gap, owns stock in Edison. Read more
