CHP and OPD Conspired to Cover Up Hit-and-Run Murder of Diallo Neal
Diallo Neal's Mother Continues to Demand Justice for Son Despite Statute of Limitations
On October 10, 2005, Diallo Neal was murdered when a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer struck the rear end of his motorcycle, launching Diallo into a bus stop, pole, and concrete bench. The CHP officer fled the scene. Oakland police began an investigation, but CHP took it over and closed it, saying there was no case because they were never there. Work is underway to revive the truth of this tragedy, regardless of legal statutes of limitations, and bring it to the public eye.

“Law enforcement should not be able to lie, cover up, and destroy families,” said Ms. Baker, “then tell me about a statute of limitations? On what? What is the statute of limitations on murder?”

A press conference and rally to support Diallo's mother, Gilda Baker, will be held at the California Highway Patrol headquarters on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland on October 11, which would have been Diallo's 34th birthday. Demands to be pressed are for CHP to accept responsibility for the cover up, release the name of the officer, and hold the murderer accountable for his crime.
