Deputy Harbormaster from Santa Cruz Due Back in Napa Court in March
Law Enforcement Officer Timothy James Anderson Faces Off-Duty Battery Charges
Santa Cruz deputy harbormaster Timothy James Anderson is scheduled to be back in court in Napa County on March 4 to face battery charges stemming from an incident that occurred on August 13, 2013 near Lake Berryessa. Anderson and his friend Steven Belmont were arrested in Napa County after the incident, and Belmont has been ordered to stand trial on attempted murder charges for allegedly attacking Berryessa resident Roy Powell with a pitch fork.
According to a media report in Napa, Anderson has been charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting one of Powell's friends.
Anderson was hired as deputy harbormaster for the Santa Cruz Port District in April of 2013. According to the Santa Cruz Harbor website, Anderson has, "a background in boating and law enforcement, stemming from a career in the United States Coast Guard." The Santa Cruz Harbor website describes the duties of an "assistant" harbor master: "Under direction from the Harbormaster, the Assistant Harbormaster plans, organizes and oversees assigned functions of the Operations Department, including marina management, marine rescue services and harbor-wide safety, security, law enforcement, parking control, and special events at the Santa Cruz Harbor."
