This Weekend - Star Wars Masquerade Saturday, and EM demonstration Sunday
We are excited to see what costumes you have come up with for our Star
Wars Masquerade this Saturday!  If you don't have a costume, don't
worry, there will be a costume making station.  Bring moop (materials
out of place) and props to help create your own Star Wars costume or
help someone else make theirs!  This is a co-created event, so we want
each of you to come ready to offer your own ideas to the event.  It
will be a potluck also, so don't forget to bring something tasty to
eat, extra points if it's Star Wars themed.  There will be
storytelling, jousting, costume making, and other fun activities for
you to join.  There will be a live gypsy band and various DJs
throughout the day also.  We are excited to be presenting this first
event in a series of monthly family oriented masquerades!    We are
asking $5 donation per person, $15 max per family.  Special discounts
will be given to people who pass this flier on to friends and family,
and throughout the internet (tribe, myspace, facebook, etc).  Just a
reminder, there is a regularly scheduled Yogakido class from 5-6:30,
which you will be able to participate in for a donation.
Also, join us on Sunday for a special guest presentation from 2-4pm on
E.M., effective micro-organisms, which are used to bring vitality to
your soil!  Learn how to use ancient wisdom in the modern format of
Authentic Technologies (technologies that enhance health without
negative side effects).  Come be empowered by learning the "probiotic
solutions" approach as we take common household "waste" to transform
the materials into earth healing, vitality enhancing resources!  Learn
how to use E.M., effective microorganisms, to shift the degenerative
into regenerative, oxidative biological processes into antioxidative,
and the antibiotic into probiotic.  If you live on this planet, you
need to come to this workshop!  As always, we are having Sunday
potluck from 2pm-6pm and Maya is leading EFT, emotional freedom
technique, at 6pm.

FREE HOOPDANCE CLASSES SUN 3/1 SF 1:15 + 2:15 pm rosie at hooliehoop dot com

Looking for some fun fitness this weekend? Join us at this Intro To Hoopdance class for a great and uplifting workout!
This Sunday we're offering two free beginners classes in San Francisco as part of this weekend's Teacher Training. We'll have two sessions, starting at 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., and each class will last approximately 45 minutes. If you're interested in joining us, please contact rosie(at)hooliehoop(dot)com to register. The location is near Folsom Street and 9th Street in San Francisco. For more info on hoopdance and our company, please visit

Sunday, March 1st: HULA HOOPING @ SF CIVIC CENTER: From 2 to 4 pm we'll be meeting across the street from City Hall, specifically on Polk Street between Grove and McCallister for those of you who haven't joined us there before. The weather report right now calls for a lot of rain on Saturday, and for Sunday to be clear. The Civic Center is a great spot this time of year because it dries out better than just about anywhere and even if the grass is all wet there's still plenty of space to hoop. Hello Hoopers! To subscribe to Bay Area Hula Hoopers send a blank email to: bah-subscribe [at]
Sunday, March 8th: SNOW PARK (Oakland) - It's usually warmer in the East Bay so we're gonna take advantage of it! We've been having great East Bay turnouts at Snow Park in Oakland and we're all really liking hooping there so we're going back again. We'll be there from 2 until 4pm and it's just a short walk from the 19th St. BART Station at 19th & Harrison. Park info:
Sunday, March 15nd: HAYES/OCTAVIA GREEN - From 2 to 4 pm on Octavia between Fell and Hayes in San Francisco.
Sunday, March 22th: DOLORES PARK - It's Spring! Come celebrate Springtime from 2 to 4pm on the Dolores Street side of the park, typically by the palm trees between 19th and 20th.
Sunday, March 29th: PANHANDLE - Bay Area Hoopers hosts our regular 2-4pm Sunday hoop jam at the end of The Panhandle, specifically Baker Street between Oak and Fell at the statue.

Farewell event with Cara Black reading as Stacey's Books closes (Financial District)
FREE at Stacey's Bookstore WED MAR 4 12:30PM Our friend and favorite Cara Black joins us for her ninth Aimee Leduc mystery. Postcolonial politics and the search for the truth about a woman claiming to be Aimee's half sister enliven Black's latest mystery set in Paris. We will be serving French treats and wine to toast Cara's success and to bid adieu in this last event at Stacey's. It is with great sadness that we announce that after 85 years in business Stacey's will be closing its doors in March 2009.

March 15 2009 THE OBAMA DECEPTION California's public schools, colleges and universities are facing more than $11 billion in state budget cuts.
These cuts are going to impact an entire generation of kids and alter public education for years to come.
March 13 is the deadline for school districts to issue preliminary pink slips to California's teachers.
Last year, more than 10,000 teachers got pink slips and nearly 5,000 lost their jobs. And this year could be much worse.
Please join us on Friday, March 13 and Stand Up for Schools. What You Can Do
1.  Wear pink on Friday, March 13 to show your support for public schools, students and educators.
2.  Organize or attend an event at a school near you.
3.  Call or e-mail your Legislator. Tell them that investing in public education is an investment in California's future.

Bay To Breakers 2009 SF Sun May 17, 2009
It is ok to run naked this year:
Save nudity at B2Breakers!
Also the office of the DA of SF has stated on record there is "NO LAW AGAINST BEING NAKED IN SF
unless you are LEWD or BLOCKING TRAFFIC" Meaning don't gesticulate or touch yourself and Don't block traffic.
FYI it IS NOT LEGAL be naked in PARKS in SF. Though on Bay To Breakers they look the other way DURING the race.
Though they claim they will not allow alcohol or big floats. So my guess is : they will stop some big keg floats.
They also claim they will discourage big floats (because people abandon these in the neighborhood.
They are down on the alcohol because people: pee too much in the park, on doorsteps, litter cups, fight.
