Just when you were beginning to relax and think, "Only one more year of Big Bother," along comes Keith Olbermann on tonight's Countdown with a segment about the upcoming whistleblower's testimony to Congress tomorrow. AT&T has been turning over ALL Internet and phone conversations, both domestic and overseas, to the feds. EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION YOU EVER MADE, AND EVERY SINGLE EMAIL YOU EVER SENT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT--no matter WHO you are! Obesity 'fuels cancer in women' http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7079799.stm 11-7-07 This has been an ongoing study for about 15 years. John Hopkins Med School started the study because they kept finding cancer in overweight women. Fat is not only directly under the skin. Over weight women have tremendous amounts of fat between the organs. (For some reason fat likes to accumulate all around the liver.) So when cancer starts to grow in the internal fat it rapidly spreads to the adjacent organs. ======= Here is the key thing. Fat tissue has extremely slow blood flow because it does not need oxygen since it does not need the same nutrients as muscle tissue. The enzymes in the genetic structure of fat cells are not active as those in muscle and are not able to correct errors in the gene sequence and cancer has a much greater chance of surviving and not being attacked by the immune system. That is the simplified version of increased cancer in overweight people. White House declines comment on dollar weakness WASHINGTON (Reuters) If the Pakistan government falls to the insurgents oil and the gold could pass $1,200 within a few months. Right now the regular things are driving the dollar down. Those are: Fear the U.S. will have to go into Pakistan and save that country from insurgents, the weak dollar, rumors the Saudies will switch the pricing of oil to Euros if the Democrats win, Home forclosure rates, turmoil in the Middle East, our lame duck president who is still for the war, and congress and everyone else telling him to pull out. PLEASE BRING: food, blankets, supplies for the tree sitters, musical instruments to play, and anything else you have that you'd like to contribute to this gathering. As you may know by now, the UC Police just erected a SECOND fence at the grove. In a letter to Judge Barbara Miller, UC stated that the purpose of this fence is to prepare for the upcoming removal of the tree-sitters. UC's action in erecting this fence is reckless and infringes on the rights of everyone to enjoy this sacred site. Sat Nov 10 Sat Nov 10 8 AM TreeSpirit Photo at Memorial Oak Grove / UCBerkeley Photographer Jack Gescheidt here, confirming that the next big TreeSpirit photo will be made in Berkeley's Memorial Oak Grove on Saturday, November 10th at 8 AM. We will draw public attention to these mature oak trees that are threatened by UC's development plans and make a photographic artwork celebrating their beauty and value. If you believe as I do that the great new gymnasium intended for this site can be more safely, wisely built at an alternate location-not on top of the Hayward earthquake fault-please support this peaceful, creative, playful, adventurous art event/demonstration. All are welcome to participate OR simply bear loving, supportive witness. I expect a large turnout because the oak grove is in the news, as well it should be. These trees are important to both the local community, as well as globally symbolic of the crucial role trees play in our physical, emotional and spiritual lives. If you feel as I and many others do that trees are a precious and valuable environmental resource, and that we need more greenspace and not less, please join us in this chance to act locally while thinking globally. The SHAC7 are 6 activists and a corporation, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA Inc., that have been found guilty of multiple federal felonies for their alleged role in simply campaigning to close down the notorious animal testing lab, Huntingdon Life Sciences. The six individuals are all currently in federal prison. They are not accused of actually smashing windows, liberating animals or even attending demonstrations, rather reporting on and encouraging others to engage in legal demonstrations and supporting the ideology of direct action. After being found guilty, they are beginning their appeal. Unfortunately this appeal will be done from prison. During their stay they need your support! Finances, spreading the word about their case, books, letters or just a friendly 'hello'! It just takes a few minutes to brighten the lives of political prisoners! Let's let these individuals know they are not forgotten!
