World's First Community Algae Lab Opening @ The Shipyard, Sunday, August 10th
come and experience the art and grunge of the berkeley shipyard, where artists come to make metal art and other fascinating projects, support the hard work of some of the bay area's finest algae lovers, and hear more about why algae are better than pants! . . . read on for more details. xox amanda
by the way, if you didn't already guess, this is my partner, aaron's project.
ps: guess who's making the superfood spirulina scooby snacks? ; )
Why are algae interesting?
Because they eat greenhouse gases
and wastewater to create, in very little space,
fuel, fertilizer, and extremely nutritious food --
all without using valuable farmland
and little or no fresh water.
They are a truly green crop for a sustainable future.
We are the Shipyard algae lab community.
We have created the world's first community algae lab --
for development of open source, DIY-oriented algae technology,
to facilitate the co-operative pursuit of this new form of agriculture --
and we invite *you*
to come see it, *celebrate*
with us, rub shoulders
with hard-working algae-istas,
and sign up for one of our upcoming workshops!
Algae-powered super-snacks will be served ...
come feel the algae love ...
3-6pm Sunday, August 10th

8/16 naked beach party, Gray Whale Cove near Devil's Slide, south of Pacifica
The drive is about half an hour from downtown San Francisco. http://www.fkkfreebodyculture.com
From downtown SF, get on the 280 and stay on that highway heading south/west. At some point it splits... stay to the right where it says Highway 1. On Highway 1 [the old coastal road, sometimes blocked by rock-slides], once you are leaving Pacifica you are only about 2 to 3 miles away. You first drive through a forested area, which then emerges onto a spectacular coastal road. Watch out for large parking area on the left (east side of the road [inland]); and turn in there.
Coming south from SF-- if you get to Montara State Beach, you have gone too far south.
Walkiing down the cliff: The trail down to the beach starts a bit north of the parking lot.
When you get down to the beach, stick to the right, walking north nude beaches: http://sfbg.com

crazy kids from Nexus in Reno at the Grand Sierra Casino/Hotel immediately following the Burn!
Last year was AWESOME! Rooms were around $69 and PIMP! Really nice, excellent food, the biggest pool in Reno. .and this year there will be the night club open to us all night, pool all day with buffet, mini golf and go carts.
Last year there was only 3 weeks to pull it off and it was great. This year with more time the line up of music is growing quick and has some real talent on it, and will be posted soon I imagine. Keep you eye on the Nexus tribe. http://tribe.net
