Surfing 50 States Movie, Featuring Free Beer & Pizza & Appearance by Producers
This is the story of two crazy Aussie mates, Jonno and Stefan, and their quest to 'surf' in one form or another in ALL 50 states. They surfed on icy waves in Alaska, with a cowboy and his horse in Texas, on potatoes in Idaho, in a Wizard Of Oz play in Kansas, and dressed as a giant lobster in Maine. It was going to be a challenge, but they saved their pennies, packed their bags and headed to the USA with a camera in one hand and a surfboard in the other.
What follows is documented in this movie - a hilarious mix of amazing people, inventive surfing, and American culture at its wackiest.
Film will be followed by a Q&A with the Producers
FREE BEER and PIZZA with ticket purchase. 5-7pm for Pizza and Food, 7pm for movie.

Presentation: Cool Cuisine: Taking the Bite out of Global Warming
Come and hear San Francisco Bay Area chef Laura Stec with Dr. Eugene Cordero, Ph.D, San José State University Professor of Meteorology, discuss the findings of their book. Cool Cuisine addresses why global warming could be the best thing to happen to the culinary world in a long time, and reports on innovative science, business, and savory solutions to the Global Warming Diet. The class and the book embark on an exploration that feeds mind and mouth with art, science, food lore, culinary tips and recipes on how to cook a global cool cuisine. Presentation includes show-and-tell displays (salt taste test, tap water vs. bottled water taste test, whole grain selection, oily water bottle display, shady coffee and chocolate explanation) and mini culinary "how-to" class (see http://www.globalwarmingdiet.org).

Saturdays December 6th & 20th 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. $5
YAY!  An indoor Saturday jam for our East Bay hoop community!
December's jams are experimental on two fronts:  1) Will you, members
of the East Bay hoop community, support a Saturday hoop jam? And 2) Is
7th Heaven a large enough space for us to hold such a jam?
This is a community jam for any and all members of our hoop community.
If this sounds like a great idea and you want this jam to keep
happening, please come!  We're going to try it out for December, with
the possibility of future dates, but we must have enough interest from
you to keep doing it.

Through Wednesday, December 31, 2008 Tear Out Your Lawn Challenge
Drought conditions and water rationing often lead to a proliferation
of ugly brown lawns. Now Ploughshares Nursery at 2701 Main St. in
Alameda has a better way of saving water and saving money. The Nursery
is offering a "Tear Out Your Lawn Challenge". Participants in the
challenge will receive a one time 20% coupon good for the purchase of
drought tolerant plants and a free half hour landscaping consultation
with a senior staff member. To be eligible you must remove 40% or more
of your lawn and provide before and after photos as proof. The offer
is good until the end of 2008. Ploughshares Nursery is an
environmentally sustainable business run by and for formerly homeless
residents of the Alameda Point Collaborative. The nursery specializes
in California native, edible, and climate appropriate plants. Many of
the plants sold at Ploughshares Nursery are difficult to find at other
retail nurseries. Ploughshares Nursery is open to the public every
week, Wednesday though Sunday from 9am to 5:30pm
