Same Sex Marriages Begin In California
Marriage Equality Comes To California
On June 16th, same sex marriages officially began in California.
In San Francisco, hundreds came to City Hall to celebrate. After being together for more than 50 years, Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin were the first couple to be legally married. A small number of anti-gay people also showed up, and confrontation between them and the large crowed of people who came to celebrate broke out periodically.
