Since Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo came to power under martial law, at least 752 Filipinos have been murdered in politically motivated killings while 184 have gone missing. Tens of millions of U.S. tax dollars are given to the Macapagal-Arroyo government each year for military training and weaponry and hundreds of millions worth of military technology are "transferred" to the Philippine military. Today, the U.S. military is currently engaged in ongoing "joint-training exercises" between American troops and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Amnesty International recently released a report criticizing the Macapagal-Arroyo administration.
