The Middle East Children's Alliance, along with other friends and supporters of Justice in Palestine, is calling for people to join in a June 20th Day of Action in solidarity with the people of Palestine in their struggle against Israel's occupation and its murderous policies. There will be actions in Chicago, New York, Toronto, Montreal, Berkley, Boston, and dozens of other cities in North America. In Berkeley, more than 150 people people joined MECA, ADC-SF and QUIT! in downtown Berkeley for an emergency action to say "NO!" to killing children by violence and deprivation. Photos: 1 | 2

Israeli military attacks in Gaza have escalated, and Palestinians are being deprived of food and medicine. The Israeli Defense Forces (also known as the Israeli Occupation Forces) have fired over 7,000 shells on the people of Gaza so far this year. An Israeli air strike recently killed nine civilians, including two children and two paramedics. Forty others were wounded. The day before, seven members of a family were killed while picnicking on the beach, including a six-month old infant. Read more The population of Gaza is living with the danger and noise of constant shelling by the Israeli army from the land and the sea. Thousands are reportedly suffering from life-threatening or disabling injuries. The EU and US have cut off humanitarian aid, while Israel has withheld tax revenues that it owes to the Palestinian Authority. As a result, unemployment is skyrocketing and there’s a critical shortage of food, medicine, and medical supplies.
