03/19/03 MAXXAM / Pacific Lumber illegally sealed off a public road all day on March 17, in order to extract marathon tree sitters, "Remedy" and "Wren," who had been up for 12 and 10 months, respectively. Late in the night on the 17th after the arrests took place, new sitters re-ascended those same trees with platforms and re-established both tree sits. On Tuesday, March 18, in the lower village, more roadside arrests took place, one sitter was lowered down to her arrest and the girthing of two trees took place while sitters where occupying them. On Wed., March 19, a treesit across the valley from Jerry on Kneeland Road was taken down. Down the road from that eviction, a woman locked down to a loader and was arrested after they cut the lockbox.
