NYPD & anti-capitalists prepare for confrontation in New York City
Feb 1st: Protests are underway in NYC, as a co-ordinated netstrike against the World Economic Forum has shut down their website. Thousands protested the Gap (see video), and NYPD stood guard for the rich.
San Francisco Protests: Activities in the Bay Area include a WEF solidarity protest on Saturday at 6pm, a demo for a Palestinian American woman fired from Macy's at noon, an all-day fair at Islais Creek, a WEF panel at 4pm and the start of the SF Black Independent Film Festival. A revolutionary anarchist mobilization against the World Economic Forum is planned for this weekend in New York City, as police prepare for thousands of demonstrators. Capitalist media is perpetuating the line that protesters have no place causing trouble for "the heroes of September 11th". Others are remembering the generally fascist character of NYPD.

Each year, a few thousand of the world's richest people get together to gloat about their crapulence and corruption at the 5-day World Economic Forum (WEF). Protest and disruption has now followed them from their usual Davos ski resort to New York City: anotherworldispossible & the anti-capitalist convergence. Meanwhile, the annual World Social Forum in Brazil will host unions and international NGOs, while an anti-capitalist forum occurs simultaneously.
