Hungry: Trump regime & MAGA are starving America’s children
Starving America’s children does not make America great again
By Lynda Carson - September 17, 2026
More than an astounding 1.2 million children have lost their SNAP food benefits from the federal government and the Department of Agriculture since last July. Children are starving in America.
How does one explain to over 1.2 million starving children in America that they lost their SNAP food benefits so that the fascist convicted felon President Donald J. Trump and the Republicans can cover the cost of massive tax breaks given to the rich in America, through the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” passed by Congress, that was supported by the National Police Union of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Christian Evangelists supporting Trump.
That’ right! The cops are eager, wiling and able to round up any of the usual suspects, including children, who may try to steal a little bit of food from the local grocery stores because they are starving, and have been cut off from their SNAP food benefits.
A few headlines below may help to put the spotlight on what has been happening in our country in recent hours, and days lately about hungry children and others losing their food in America, the so-called richest country in the world.

That’s right. These are very grim times we find ourselves in. Hunger in America has gone beyond the pale with millions of children going hungry. Meanwhile, the Republicans are pushing for billions of dollars more for the pentagon and the war against Iran, while demanding that bibles should be read in school classrooms, and the Ten Commandments should be displayed in school classrooms, at the same time they are starving children throughout America.
It’s not only children going hungry, so are families, seniors, those with disabilities, veterans, and employed workers because wages in this country are so low that full time employed persons need SNAP food benefits to survive on.
And with so much hunger happening in plain sight, just try to imagine what the hunger crisis is like that is happening in America’s orphanages, the children’s detention centers, adult prisons, jails, and ICE detention centers, with people going hungry.
Meanwhile in our country, musicians are struggling to keep their wages from being cut at the San Francisco Opera, the UN believes the U.S. has committed war crimes in Iran, often the food is not safe to eat, people are dying from the measles, covid is on the rise, AI may kill us off in a few years or less, Trump is messing around with our elections, ICE detention centers are not safe for migrants, and AI data centers are sucking up our drinking water, while forcing our utility rates to rise beyond the ability of poor people to pay their utility bills as PG&E’s propaganda is flooding the airwaves.
