In Minnesota, 40 years was the maximum possible sentence for killer cop Derek Chauvin for the second degree murder conviction. Thus, 22.5 years was an insulting compromise. In addition, by this sentence, he could be out in 15 years, the usual sentence killer cops get for killing. See https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/25/us/derek-chauvin-sentencing-george-floyd/index.html
As the Floyd brothers stated, they have been sentenced to a life sentence of having a brother killed by a cop. And the same is true of the rest of us. The killer cops are on the loose and could kill anyone of any color. It is dangerous to have Chauvin out and about.
The State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis failed all of us by refusing to fire Chauvin in any of the previous 20 complaints, some of which involved sitting on a person's neck. Now, we have to pay for the existence of this killer cop, probably for life. He is facing a trial on federal civil rights charges along with his co-killers, the 3 other cops, at least one of whom held Floyd's legs down while George Floyd was handcuffed and forced to lie face down on the pavement while Chauvin sat on Floyd's neck, all for an alleged $20 counterfeit bill. The other 3 are due to be tried on criminal charges in March 2022.
The next time anyone tells you that this country is great, you be sure to tell them that is a vicious lie and has always been a vicious lie. These police killings are routine and the police rarely are charged, convicted or spend any time in jail for their killings as they have qualified immunity to murder with impunity. Only mass protests forced the charging, conviction and jailing of Chauvin, and that was only because there was a video as evidence.
