Join East Bay DSA in our campaigns for Yes on Prop 10: The Affordable Housing Act and Jovanka Beckles for Assembly District 15. This final open meeting of the Electoral, Housing, and Medicare for All committees will bring members up to date on our Prop 10 and Jovanka Beckles get out the vote (GOTV) efforts, discuss our strategy in the last few weeks of the election, and get members committed to making the difference in the home stretch!

Prop 10 is a ballot initiative that, if passed, will give us the power to adopt rent control necessary to address the state's housing affordability crisis by repealing the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which upholds landlord interests, and — in tandem with the housing crisis — has deeply exacerbated social disparities, displaced longtime communities, driven homelessness, and dealt a blow to working-class power by making housing ever more insecure and inaccessible.

Jovanka Beckles is a proud democratic socialist and a two-term Richmond City Council member backed by the Richmond Progressive Alliance, a grassroots coalition that doesn't accept any corporate money. Jovanka Beckles and the RPA have won countless victories for the city's working class, including a $15 minimum wage and more than $115 million in new taxes on Chevron and their oil refinery. Now, we want to send Jovanka Beckles to Sacramento to fight for policies like universal rent control and publicly-funded social housing, a Medicare-for-All system in California, and free public education from preschool to college. She is also a big proponent of Proposition 10. We're fighting alongside Jovanka Beckles and half a million renters across the state to pass Proposition 10 and pave the way for real rent control.

Together, we can get out the vote and help build the movement we need to win Proposition 10 and elect Jovanka Beckles. Join us to help swing these critical races and build a California that puts people over profit.
