Please Save Berkeley's People's Park

by Darin
Poor social services in Berkeley and other civic aberrant negligence have contributed to the perceived negation and associated slander towards People's Park. But beyond a decades long insufficient response to human suffering and a lack of community concentration on the People's Park garden, and other aspects of the park that aren't directly linked to blight at all times, and often are, it is time to SAVE PEOPLE'S PARK!

I have a conservative estimate now that the hired UCB landscapers destroy about 500 lbs of collards a year and another 500 in various foodstuff and seed stock just by their hack and slash tactics in People's Park garden. In the last two days they have again destroyed most of the garden in an attempt to desertify the garden, create blight and indifference, and use that as a catalyst to gentrify the community further. As we all know they want the park for dorms. I've been harvesting the collards and other foodstuffs mostly independently for the sake of food not bombs and the ecology center / the at large community for the past two years. I need your help. PLEASE TRY TO SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY!!!!

Please sign the petition. James Rector died on May 15, 1969 from police bullets when people fought for that park. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Park_(Berkeley). Alan Blanchard was blinded. It was a full scale police riot. The defenders of People's Park won. That area needs a park and it is outrageous that the City of Berkeley would destroy any community garden, producing lots of food. As to the homeless, Berkeley's top priority must be to house the homeless, including using the right of eminent domain to take over any unrented apartments and houses and house the homeless at taxpayer expense. The struggle to save People's Park is just as important as housing the homeless, fighting for socialized medicine, opposing war, and all other issues of our day. The issues of 1969 are the same as of today because capitalism is just as rotten. The petition is at:

Peoples (Muwekma is Ohlone for People) Park has Survived UC Berkeley onslaught of BS (Mainetance to Kill Garden and Thanks Darin for your Garden Work) and is Legally, Morally and Environmentally (Especially during Global Warming) in the Hands of the People. The Legal aspect of the University Taking it by Eminent Domain e which is a 7 year to Use it for Intended Purpose which was up 41 years ago. Secondly the University INSTALLED a Puppet Mayor (JESSE IS not OUR MAYOR) which HAS BEEN CHALLENGED AND PROVEN wrong (UC 'S Seqouia Voting Machines) and the Homeless Housing on Peoples Park proves how PATHETIC and Desperate UC Greediants. The Greediants NO LONGER have the Residents Fooled into their Land Grabbing especially PRIVATIZING the University as 19 or so War Criminals and Fukashima (birth of the Nuclear Age, Solution from or at least Health Warnings on Eating Seafood). In other words the Residents can be Notified that Trees and Open Space in Berkeley should be Defended especially for the Lying (University is Broke by our Fake Mayor) only to Fee Hike the Students then Gestopo Napolitano letting 175 Million dollars fall out of one of Numerous Slush Funds. I would be Surprized by UC trying to take the Park at this Time but would Love to Defend Park and Destroy UC Greediants at the Same time.

Yes, as Becky O' Malley says in a previous issue of BerkeleyDailyPlanet.com that it has a long been a tactic of slumlords to let the area run-down and then kick everyone out and put in new construction on the block. We pay the city and the UC (Apartheid) police all this money to bankrupt our budget and we are not safe. How can they say the alleged "crime" in Peoples' Park can only be solved by construction. This is an old ploy. So we should fire all the police (take care of their families so they do not have to suffer) and use the vast amount of present police funds to protect ourselves. How can we keep paying the police to not keep us safe. IF we had police we should pay them 100 percent if we are 100 percent safe. Fight and die to keep the park! The regents are the criminals that need to be arrested. They are the heads of the large corporations like the oil companies and PG%E. Please educate everyone about the park because there a lot of new people who have no clue about it (yet). James
