A Community Conversation for Healing and Change

Social Justice Alliance to Host a Community Forum Regarding the Death of Sean Arlt
November 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

The recent death of community member Sean Arlt has left our community with feelings of grief, dismay,
confusion, and anger. Leaders of local social justice organizations have joined together to address the
issues of police violence, training, accountability and transparency. The Social Justice Alliance of Santa
Cruz (SJA) seeks to engage in the process of improving the procedures law enforcement will implement
around its interaction with people of color, people suffering from mental illness and other vulnerable
populations.

The SJA will hold a community forum to give community members an opportunity to voice concerns and
raise questions regarding Sean's death. SCPD Chief Kevin Vogel and Deputy Chief Rick Martinez will be in
attendance as part of the community.

The forum is free and will take place at Peace United Church, 900 High Street, Santa Cruz.

The Social Justice Alliance is a coalition of organizations including the Santa Cruz County Branch of the
NAACP, the Santa Cruz Chapter of the ACLU of Northern California, Barrios Unidos, the Resource Center
for Nonviolence, Showing Up for Racial Justice Santa Cruz affiliate, Santa Cruz County Community
Coalition to Overcome Racism, Sin Barras and others.

You claim the mantle of a number of local organizations but you ARE NOT those organizations. You are INDIVIDUALS.

Who are you? There IS NO INFORMATION regarding the individuals organizing this event at a hard to access location with shitty-to-no bus service up a steep hill overlooking the city on private property. This forum should be crammed down the city's throat at it's contemptibly corrupt council meetings.

But apparently you don't have the guts to organize that.

I suspect you're the usual cast-of-characters who apologize for police abuse because "mentally Ill" as seen in NAMI's sickening statement on this site. The Steve Pleich-es who call for "Restorative Justice" and entirely ignore the fact there needs to be FUNCTIONAL justice before there can be 'restoration and issue toothless statements for the ACLU fan club of Santa Cruz, or the fact that the Santa Cruz Police are ill-equpped ethically, morally and apparently physically to 'deal' with someone wielding a stick without killing them.

Police apologists! Apologists for a city that fails to provide even a winter shelter for it's homeless this year including many psychologically damaged individuals incapable of maintaining warm bedding. WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? City politicians and NGOs maintaining cozy relationships with them. That's who.

Here's some North Dakota storm troopers the city should hire. They know how to take a stick from someone
