Committee for Green Foothills: Introducing Our First-Ever Annual Report

by via Committee for Green Foothills
You may be surprised to hear that we’ve never created an annual report (I was when I realized it). But like most things, it’s better late than never, right?

[ Check out our 2015 annual report by clicking above. PDF, 8.0 MB. Thanks to our partners, members, and volunteers for making 2015 an incredible year! ]

For me, taking the time to sit down and reflect on what we accomplished together in 2015 made this endeavor worthwhile.

Looking back was also an exercise of gratitude. As we talked to members, met with volunteers, dug through comment letters and action alerts, compiling stories of our impact—I was reminded of how grateful I am to be a part of this dedicated community of people. It is only because of our members that there is a voice for local wildlife and natural areas.

Thanks to your support, we advocated on 30 local land use issues in 2015. Some of my favorites include:

Advocating for Half Moon Bay to preserve natural areas, endangered species habitat, and farmland during its general plan and Local Coastal Program updates (more on pg. 4)
Speaking up for parks and open space in East Palo Alto’s general plan (more on pg. 5)
Leading the effort to protect over 700 acres of farmland in Morgan Hill (more on pg. 6)
On behalf of everyone at Committee for Green Foothills, thank you for making these efforts possible. I hope you’ll read our annual report with a sense of pride for all that you have made possible for local open space.

With Gratitude,

Megan Medeiros
Executive Director

P.S: Please share this report with a friend.

P.S.S: There is no better time to join or renew your membership. All gifts made through the end of April will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $5,000).

Dear Friends of Committee for Green Foothills,

Drive along Highway 280 and the Peninsula’s sweeping hillsides take your breath away. Bike the coast in Half Moon Bay and the crashing waves and salty air clear your head. Hike San Jose’s rolling foothills in the springtime and the heady scent of wildflowers fills your senses.

We’ve protected these extraordinary places for over 50 years. They are what make our region such a special place to live and work. We accomplished a lot in 2015, but so much is still at stake.

Land conservation is an ultra-marathon, not a sprint. While we’re proud of our successes in 2015, they are the result of work started years ago. Our work can take years, even decades, and last year’s efforts laid the foundation for wins yet to come.

This first-ever annual report illuminates what you made possible and provides a summary of how we’ve invested your gifts. Thank you for your ongoing generosity and your commitment to protecting open space for future generations.
