When the government of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan moved to demolish an historic park in the heart of Istanbul to build a massive shopping mall complex in June 2013, Turkish people united to occupy Gezi Park and adjacent Taksim Square – Turkey’s Tahrir. Sharat G. Lin, who witnessed the Turkish government crushing May Day demonstrations following on Gezi Park in 2014, will lead discussion.
Open to the public
Suggested donation: $5-10
Bus routes: 22, 522, 23, 11, 63, 64, 72, 73, 81, Hwy 17 Express, MST 55, Dash, LRT
