Raise a Pint for Warming Center, Thursday, Feb. 5 at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, 402 Ingalls St. Santa Cruz (westside). 11:30am-10pm
Every Pint purchased gives WCP $1, so bottoms up.
We had a successful inaugural phase on December 30 & 31, hosting as many as 60 people on our 2nd night and it all went very smoothly. People slept well and our system was proven to be effective and efficient. We’re confident to move forward with plans to raise the temperature threshold and expand the geographical region of service; to do so will require more community support. We’re on track to do this.
Here is our report of the opening phase: https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2015/01/03/18766327.php
One of our biggest challenges is finding available floor-space. This program isn’t location based and can be in different locations. We utilize the 211 Info Hotline enabling people to find out when and where shelters are opening on the very coldest nights of winter. We need access to large meeting rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and halls. If you are a member of a local community organization with a large open meeting space, we’d like you to consider advocating in partnership with WCP to utilize the space as one on our list.
