Veterans Performance Workshop Series

This workshop series is offered in collaboration with the CONTACT Project and Krista DeNio (http://www.kristadenio.com/the-contact-project/) in conjunction with the exhibition of artist Monica Haller's Objects for Deployment: Veterans Book Project, (http://www.veteransbookproject.com/).

Director/ choreographer Krista DeNio, and members of the CONTACT project will facilitate workshops investigating the personal stories, visual content, and narratives from Veterans Book Project, along with excavating personal stories from workshop participants, as source for performance material. These initial workshops will bring together aspects of the CONTACT project training and development processes, including ally work, physical and vocal training, writing, and performance composition. Material developed in the workshops will act as foundational content for a February 2015 performance installation, a collaboration among The Arts at CIIS, Veterans Book Project and the CONTACT project. Workshops are open to performers and non-performers, veterans of war and military service, non-veterans, students of CIIS, and members of the public.

Fall 2014 Workshop dates & times:

Introductory Workshop: Friday November 14, 6:30-9:30pm

Day-long Workshops: November 22nd/23rd, and December 13th/14th | 12:00-5:00pm

NOTE:
* December 14th is the Workshop Audition for those interested in Winter 2015 performances.
* Participants may attend (1) or both days on each weekend.
* Please RSVP so that appropriate planning can be done. If you are unable to RSVP in advance, please contact the workshop leader the day of, to find out if there is room for you! Participation is limited to 15 (students, public, veterans and non-veterans).
