Peninsula Grace Notes is pleased to announce a benefit concert for Duo Duo Animal Welfare Organization on Sunday April 27th, 3:00 p.m. at the Foster City Community Center Wind Room, on 1000 Hillsdale Boulevard. Free admission. Donation box at the door, and 100% of proceeds will go to stop the gruesome "Dog Meat Festival". It takes place every year in June, in Guangxi, China, where 10,000 dogs are butchered. Most are stolen from their homes. Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project works with local Chinese animal activists to stop this barbaric event and also to educate the public and raise awareness of this horrible cruelty.
The program features works by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Dvorak and Handel-Halvorsen.
Performers include Yun Jie Liu, Associate Principal Violist San Francisco Symphony, Emily Liu, Principal Violist San Francisco Youth Symphony, Échappé String Quartet, winner of 2012 Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition, and Alex Zhu, a 12-year old violin whiz who recently received one of the top prizes in the 2014 Menuhin International Violin Competition. He is also 1st prize winner of the Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition and Andrea Postacchini Violin Competition in Italy. Also in the program are pianists performing solo, 4 hands, and 8 hands.
