The protest will continue against the Sidewalk Snatching Ordinances. The aim is to educate tourists, residents, local businesses, street performers, and the community.
A memorial tour of Pacific Avenue is scheduled to show the small space currently available as well as the tiny space that will remain on October 24th when the new laws activate.
We will also be observing & discussing the behavior of groups like the Downtown Hosts in action.
Last Sunday, a female Host threatened and flung obscenities at a peaceful protester. The protester was audioing the Host's statements that playing hopscotch on the sidewalk on a matrix made with erasable chalk was "grafitti".
The host's superior and the police refused to identify this abusive Host, who had no name tag (nor did her superior). The superior was later identified as Gina Ramirez.
We shall encourage the Hosts and police to be more accountable, conduct a Tour of Shame downtown, and observe the Hosts as they advise people of what rights they have to surrender in order to be left in peace downtown.
We shall also attempt to visit the closed and locked HQ of what police state supporters like to call the "Hospitality" crew on Front St.
