Catholics Complain of News Blackout at San Francisco Anti-Choice Rally
In an article subtitled, "Agenda-driven mainstream media all but ignore West Coast Walk for Life", Catholic commentator Gibbons J. Cooney complains of lack of attention to the annual anti-reproductive rights event.
Quotes from an article California Catholic Daily published one week after the annual Walk for Life event.
"ABC TV did a decent job covering the event. KTVU television had an article, but no video, on its website with the lead: 'Several thousand anti-abortion activists marched in San Francisco Saturday…' Their own article later contradicted their own lead by kicking their estimate up to 10,000. That was it for TV. NBC TV: nothing. CBS TV: nothing. ...
The only article the San Francisco Chronicle, the city’s major daily, did on the Walk For Life West Coast was prior to the event -- and that C.W. Nevius’ column advising San Franciscans to ignore it! His editors, at least, appear to have taken his advice. The paper did send photographer Michael Macor to cover the event. He took some nice shots. They reproduced one in their newspaper. No article accompanied the photo.
Contrast this with the Chronicle’s coverage of Occupy Wall Street."

28% of women obtaining abortions are Catholic. A little over 1 million abortions a year are performed in the US, a country of 310 million people. Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures. A women faces death whenever she becomes pregnant. Pregnancy also increases risk of or complicates many ailments and maternal death is a serious problem in many countries of the world and a growing problem in the US.
On abortion, see

On the deadly risks of pregnancy see Medline Plus, a Service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health:

On the backward USA's rising maternal death crisis due to not having socialized medicine and due to rising poverty, see the March 2011 article of the Journal of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals at:

It is good that the press ignores this mostly Catholic children parade of 10,000, plus their backward parents and child-molesting priests, all waving crosses and beads. This is a reactionary publicity stunt on the part of the viciously anti-women, anti-gay, anti-science Catholic Church, using children as props, which is child abuse. The City of San Francisco refused to give the Nazis a parade permit in the 1980s on the correct premise that no one has a right to falsely yell fire in a crowded theater, and the same must be true of the Catholic Church. Allowing the Catholic Church to run amok on our streets is an unconscionable outrage. For the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade in 2013, let us hope that Planned Parenthood and all other pro-abortion groups have a parade on Market Street from the Embarcadero to the Civic Center at Noon, with permits obtained for both Justin Herman Plaza and the Civic Center for the entire day.

That's what "free press" means.
The publisher of a media product is free to print/show whatever they wish and free not to print whatever they wis. Not under orders to "report the offical truth" (who decides that?)
If you don't like what the press does or does not print you are free (allowed) to do your own. Just figure out how to pay for it (if the "consumers" of your media don't care for it, they won't -- which is why most media products are tailored to what their readers/viewers want).
And please, do not confuse "columnists" with news unless the paper is overly confiusing those roles. Columnists tend to have their own "customers" and so usually are free to deviate somewhat from the publisher's "line". Not unusual for a conservative paper to have a liberal columnist or two or a liberal paper to have a conservative or two. It's just the paper trying to broaden the range of its customers. My still be taking a strong editorial position overall.

The east coast Walk-for-Life crowd experienced same thing...Washington Post did not cover the religiously obsessed side as much as they showed photos of the smaller pro-choice contingent.

Complaint in this news blog about equal billing for both sides, despite the far larger anti-abortion crowd. When will the get it? The vast majority of Americans want abortion on demand! As commenter in a post above said,
Catholic women get abortions too! You have to wonder who these Walk for Lifers are that think that neither they nor a loved one will ever need an abortion. It saddens me to see that they bussed in teenage women who got all giddy with self righteousness.
