KPFA interim general manager promotes right-wing conspiracy theories

Interim general manager Andrew Phillips promoted a questionable “thank you gift” to listeners who subscribed to the station during KPFA’s 2011 autumn fund drive. On Wednesday, October 12th, Phillips hosted and pitched excerpts from Zeitgeist: The Movie, which combines speculation about the origins of Christianity with 9/11 conspiracy theories and far right-wing claims about the Federal Reserve and impending world government.

The movie argues that no plane hit the Pentagon on September 11th and that elites have a plan to put mind-controlling Radio Frequency Identification microchips in people’s brains and, if they protest, stop them by turning off the chips. Ron Paul supporter Aaron Russo is featured in the film claiming that the Rockefellers are in on the nefarious ploy. The film suggests that some people already have been duped into having microchips implanted in them.

Phillips, who referred to himself during the broadcast as “a conspiracy nut,” described the film as “extraordinary” and “loaded with an amazing potpourri of information.”

While the film was airing, listeners called KPFA to say they would no longer tune into a station that promoted such dubious material just to make money.

9/11 was an Inside Job and the whole world knows it. It is not fascists who promote the 9/11 Truth Movement; it is thinking people who are part of the peace movement. Fascists are people like Barack Obama and George Bush, Democrat and Republican promoters of war and fascism and the government's conspiracy theory lie on the Reichstag Fire of the American capitalist class, perpetrated for the same reason as the Reichstag Fire, to maximize profits of the capitalist class by having a pretext for war and fascism. The Hate Pacifica Gang are proud Democrats and right wing conspiracy theory nuts since they support the government's conspiracy theory. It is not surprising that the Hate Pacifica Gang does not understand or more likely, does not want to admit the fact that 9/11 was an Inside Job, as their leading light is former KPFA programmer and former editor of the CIA's Paris Review, Larry Bensky, a staunch opponent of the 9/11 Truth Movement and much more. It's one of 100 premiums on offer. If you don't like it, don't select it.

Anyone who so enthusiastically shills the latest Jane Fonda aging gracefully book has a lot of nerve throwing stones. Maybe if you selected better premiums, your fund drives would make their goals kpfaworkers. Movie star diets are a dime a dozen and this one was overpriced.
