Friends of Oakland Tool Library Urge City Council to Save Libraries, 6/21/11: video
With rakes, shovels, and drill bits in hand, a Friends of the Tool Lending Library delegation filled the Oakland City Council’s Budget Hearing at City Hall on June 21st. At the conclusion of the Open Forum public comment period, several representatives from the Friends of the Tool Lending Library stepped forward to address the City Council and remind them of the importance of all of the Oakland Public Libraries. Their message: these tools repair Oakland, build Oakland, improve Oakland, and most of all belong to Oakland. We will not let you take away our tools and our libraries! Representatives of the Friends of the TLL did not have speaker cards for the Open Forum and had to verbally joust with Council President Larry Reid at first in order to have their voices heard.

Unfortunately, audio recorded from the Council chamber balcony is sometimes hard to hear.
