What is Santa Cruz doing about plastic pollution? Emily Glanville, Program Manager at Save our Shores, and Bob Nelson, Superintendent of Resource Recovery for the City of Santa Cruz, will discuss the growing problem of plastic pollution on the land and at sea, in our own community and around the world. Emily Glanville will present a "Sea of Consequences", which addresses consumption patterns of plastic, and pathways of pollution including local Santa Cruz County watersheds. Bob Nelson will focus on the governmental response to the problem, including actions that other cities have taken, the reaction from the plastic industry, and the current process in Santa Cruz City and County to regulate single use plastic bags.
The meeting will be held as usual at the Friends' Meeting House, 225 Rooney St., in Santa Cruz, starting at 7p.m.
Admission free, donations always welcomed. Contact 831 457-6797 for more information.
