Great opportunity! WHERE: Cafe Leila, 1724 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley (between Delaware and Virginia) Sulaiman Khatib will be speaking at Cafe Leila on Sunday, Dec.20. As a youngster, Sulaiman joined Fatah. At 14, he was incarcerated as a combatant, and sentenced to about 15 years in prison. He was released in 10 1/2 years. While in prison, Sulaiman decided that violence was not the path to a just, secure or peaceful future. Since then, he has devoted his life's work to nonviolent, joint Palestinian-Israeli action. Among his other accomplishments is the co-founding of Combatants for Peace.
