Action Alert: SF Public Access Shutdown
Momentum is building to slow the demolition! Please call Mayor Newsom's office TODAY at (415) 554-6141 or email gavin.newsom [at] sfgov.org and say: no relocation without a plan.
Sample e-mail:
Dear Mayor Newsom,
Public access television is important to me. It provides a voice for those who are never listened to, covers issues ignored by the mainstream, and provides training and access to media for thousands every year. Funds provided by the cable companies who make millions from SF residents provide these channels and production facilities for the public good of the people who live here. San Francisco is responsible for the proper and best-planned use of these funds. San Francisco cannot proceed with destroying the current facility and relocating it without the submission of a plan by the operator that is approved by the City and vetted in a public hearing with public comments. This is basic good government and proper supervision of municipal resources.
Postpone the shutdown until the plan is received, approved and put through a public hearing.
San Francisco deserves no less.
