Strike
This violent Russian silent classic depicts a strike by Russian factory workers following a fellow laborer's suicide. The government hires infilitrators in an attempt to disrupt their unity, but the workers are not swayed. In response, the military is brought in to suppress the strike, leading to a mass slaughter (and visually compared to the slaughter of cattle). Communist politics aside, "Strike" offers a compelling look at the exploitation of workers, all framed in the classic Eisenstein montage style.
