Mozzarella and Heirloom Tomato Tasting Class
This is a ticketed event, $20 per ticket.

Tickets may be purchased here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/76327.

Please note that material covered will be the same as in the class that was taught on Monday 8/3.

Join Bi-Rite farm manager Simon Richard and cheese buyer Anthea Stolz for an evening dedicated to the simple summer pleasures of heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

Anthea will demonstrate how to make fresh mozzarella, which we'll pair with Simon's tomatoes for a caprese that the class will eat. We'll taste through a selection of fresh mozzarella and Burrata offerings, from as close as Berkeley's Belfiore, to Gustosella buffalo mozzarella imported from Southern Italy, and Italian Burrata from southern Italy's Caseifico Maldera.

You'll also learn about different types of tomatoes and taste the fruits of Simon's labor, from Cherokee Purple with its dusty pink flesh to the fruity Black Prince, to the marbled flesh of the Striped German and the tangy Green Zebra.
