Dam Owner PacifiCorp Takes Hit From Regulators
California water quality
regulators have said they believe an application from the owner of the
Klamath River dams, which was looking to operate the hydropower project
with only minor changes in the future, doesn't fit state law. The State Water Resources
Control Board's staff on Tuesday said that Pacificorp's application isn't legally
feasible. The regulators said in a
notice to prepare an environmental impact report that they would
instead review a number of other alternatives to determine if they will
improve water quality in the troubled river, and bring that before the
public. Eureka Times-Standard - 10/2/08 [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=0019kX4Grjy3JZmZYYUMrWN3QlqIA3E4oSqD5c-eH37ASge7997AHCzwidYqAXDGMNPXs-ixdYcjMbzPPNYcSGJ-6Yg9Nj0KvSHWzSzSWaEjr3ChhcszUJFnDQoCmbcKoUJ7lij9EgL4MNFDpH-cNkRXA==]

Schwartzenegger Terminates California Endangered Fish
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger gushed about "green policies" and
"clean, green technology" Thursday when he gave the keynote address at
TechNet's "Growing Green Technology in California" forum. Ironically,
this was the same Schwarzenegger who last week engaged in a veto frenzy
of key environmental legislation, including landmark air pollution,
water recycling and fish protection bills. Independent Media - 10/9/08 [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=0019kX4Grjy3Jaz91JcKYIFYwspocFc7hjIZtDXxPV5LiKEKDH9P3E_guXir9DD87s_lnslB1bhYH8Pxi1zuPyR3eMwBEMw5cdplTw7mWy7tF8GldEIJvVyly7velR3FYhDaxFkTu9KG8Cj8X9ssEGVu0Z5Eh329HX2rL3NdfPwqFE=]
Just how green California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is is definitely up for
debate. He has his moments of somewhat progressive policy, which he then dilutes
with moments of complete and utter ignorance. For example, when he signed California's
way overdue budget, he lined-out $3.1 million in funding from the Department of
Fish and Game (DFG) to restore salmon, steelhead and other endangered and threatened
species. Here's a partial list of tributaries that would be opened and accessible to salmon following removal of the lower four Klamath dams..
Tribs behind Iron Gate dam; Scotch, Slide Camp, Dutch, Jenny, Fall, Salt and Beaver Basin Creek
Tribs behind Copco dam; Raymond Gulch, Indian, Deep, Long Prairie, Snackenburg, Milk, Eagle, Bear Canyon, Stove Spring Canyon, Panther Canyon, Negro Canyon and Rock Creek
Tribs behind John Boyle dam; Spencer, Clover and many others!
Get the point? There is much additional habitat available to salmon for spawning once the lower four Klamath dams are removed. This is not a complete listing and there are many more tributaries unmentioned that will be available following dam removal. Jenny Creek also has several smaller tributaries up in Oregon..
As more habitat becoems available to salmon for spawning results in greater numbers of salmon population, combined with the fact that following dam removal the Klamath River itself will be healthy after the toxic algae 'Microcystis aeruginosa' will be flushed out from the stagnant reservoirs behind the dams where they now thrive. The water temps will lower to the needs of the salmon as before once the water can flow invigorated without the traps of the dam walls. Then we'll also see more oxygen available one the water flows quickly and isn't trapped and suffocating for the fish. Like the veins and arteries of people clogged with cholesterol, the lower four Klamath dams represent the clogged veins and arteries of Mother Earth we call rivers..
Let's all hope and try to get these dams removed legally, though if the hearings don't amount to any noticeable results, let it be known that there are others willing to go the next step and take vigilante actions against these concrete barriers and takers of salmonid life. If anyone from the al Q*eda organization is willing to provide help with pyrotechnics, those of us who are willing will try to provide any services required to assist the operatives in this measure. We can agree to disagree about religion and other such matters, only that we may have a common goal of targeting infrastructure within the U.S., (aka Great Satan) and the lower four Klamath dams would be a great chance to get to the U.S. imperial power structure and also save some salmon while they're at it! Of course God Allah wants us to save the salmon!!
Of course if the EPA comes to their senses and demands the lower four Klamath dams can be taken down legally, we may still need the help of Al Q*eda with the removal of other riparian obstructions and ecological hazards..
BTW - None of these so-called "threats" should be associated with Dan Bacher or any of the other legal environmental groups working on the Klamath River issues. We certainly respect their efforts to go about this process legally, though we realize that sometimes other pressures outside of the legal route may need be applied..
Sincerely,
Those Dammed Vigilantes
