Kriss Worthington for Assembly

by BPG
Berkeley Councilmember Kriss Worthington is running for State Assembly (District 14) and needs our support.
Hello all,

Berkeley Councilmember Kriss Worthington is running for State Assembly (District 14) and needs our support. As many of you know, Kriss has been one of the staunchest supporters of medical cannabis in Berkeley, co-authoring our recent sanctuary resolution and speaking out forcefully about the shameful tactics of the federal government against dispensaries. He is consistently attentive to and respectful of his constituents who are medical marijuana patients, and has taken the time to educate himself thoroughly on issues of import to us. We need his kind of forward-thinking leadership in our state government. I hope you will consider supporting his campaign in whatever way you can.

A message from Kriss follows. Thank you, and be well,

Becky DeKeuster
Community Liaison

Subject: Campaign Update! Teamsters Endorse Kriss!

Dear Friends,

My race for the California State Assembly 14th District seat is going very well. I am excited that we continue to gain momentum and key endorsements from statewide and local organizations. I am proud to have the support of Equality California, the International Association of Machinists, Local 1546, Berkeley Firefighters, Local 1227, the Progressive Democrats of the East Bay, United Farm Workers Co-Founder Dolores Huerta, dozens of elected officials, and hundreds of community leaders. Just this week, I was endorsed by the Teamsters Joint Council 7.

This is a closely watched race and is very competitive. I am well positioned to win, but I need your help now more than ever to ensure that we can get our message out to the voters that this election offers the opportunity to elect a Democratic Assemblymember with both progressive values and the strength to lead. Please give as generous a contribution as you are able - $3600 (the maximum allowed), $1000, $250, $100 or whatever you can to help get our message out. Go to http://www.krissworthington.com today. There is a March 17 filing deadline coming up Monday and we need to show our financial strength, so if you can contribute by Monday that would be especially helpful.

With 11 years on the Berkeley City Council, I have solid legislative experience, a 98% success rate in working with my colleagues to get my bills passed, and have enacted hundreds of pieces of progressive legislation. My Eco-Pass program and Zero Waste Ordinance, once hailed as "too forward thinking" now serve as models for sustainability in cities nationwide. I will bring this kind of leadership and foresighted approach to the legislature in Sacramento.

With your help, I know we can win this race. Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Also, please forward this message to your email lists and remind everyone to vote on June 3. To continue to find out more about the campaign and see all of our endorsements, please go to http://www.krissworthington.com.

by No More War Mongers & Two Faced Politicians
This same so called progressive Kriss Worthington at the Teamsters anti-NAFTA rally in
San Francisco joined the right wing attack on the Berkeley City Council for opposing the presense
of the Marines recruiting station in Berkeley. At the rally he railed against the Berkeley City council
for passing their anti-war resolution.
Joining the Fox network and other rightwing outlets Worthington showed no worth and no principles
at this rally. Maybe he was doing this to get Teamster money and endorsement but it really
shows his true colors as someone who will support the war mongers if it means getting ahead.
He needs to apologize to the people of Berkeley and the bay area for his dispicable role
in support of Marine recruiting centers. This is also happening when Berkeley is laying off
teachers due to budget cuts.
Maybe Worthington wants these kids to join the Marines so they can get a job?

Supporters of Kriss need to ask him what he said at the Teamster's rally in San Francisco. They will discover that he attacked his own council for standing up against the Marine Recruiting station. Wake up and get the facts.
He talks out of both sides of his mouth.

Uh- Berkeley stands to lose up to 2 million dollars in federal aid if we evict the Marines. What he did was difficult, but it was in Berkeley's best interests.
by The Best Interests Of Berkeley
The "Support Kriss" blogger gave the ultimate excuse for war mongering. It will hurt Berkeley
financailly to oppose the marine recruiting station in Berkeley. You are right that the Republicrats
might cut off the money to Berkeley although this is doubtful for a statement of opposition to the
recruiting center being in Berkeley. They would have to physically shut it down to face a cutoff
of funds in all likelyhood.
But this "Kriss" supporter seems to be more concerned about the potential loss of a couple
of millions of dollars rather than the Berkeley and East Bay youth who will get killed, injured and conduct
murder and genoicide on the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the world.
Shutting down recruitment centers will also help save billions of dollars of costs to the people of the US
and the world. The most depicable thing about the Kriss campaign is his effort to
prostitute himselves to the Teamsters as a "pro-war candidate" so he could get their
support. This again shows what kind of character this opportunist has. He apparently will
pander to anyone to advance his political position.
