Bay Area mom goes 25 days without a meal- Conyers Refuses to put Impeachment on the Table

Where: 2426 Rayburn Building
When: 2pm, Friday February 29

Leslie Angeline will break bread in Congressman Conyers office after fasting for 25 days and pass the baton to CODEPINKer Ellen Taylor. Angeline was advised by her doctor to end her fast for now as her health is suffering so Taylor will continue the Hungry for Justice? Impeach him FAST! as a rolling fast, which will end when impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney begin. Over 500 people from across the country have joined the fast in solidarity by signing up throught the CODEPINK Women for Peace website.

Betty Hall, a 14-term legislature from New Hampshire who submitted House Resolution 24 calling for impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney, will also be meeting with Conyers' staff. Leslie, Betty and Marcia from "We the People's" National Coalition for Impeachment met with Congressman Wexler on Thursday to ask what they could do to support his efforts for impeachment hearings.

Angeline met with Cong. Conyers on Friday, February 15. While he was deeply moved by her sacrifice and said he has been getting pressure from people every day, he is still unwilling to commit to impeachment hearings. So Angeline has continued the fast for 25 days and has encouraged others to join. As of today, over 500 people from Vancouver, Washington to Kennebunkport, Maine have joined the fast, with more signing on every day. Angeline has been in Cong. Conyers DC office every day this week, and also pressured other members of the Judiciary Committee, including Rep. Bobby Scott, Melvin Watt and Zoe Lofgren.

What has this ignorance accomplished? I'll tell ya. It has allowed leslie to trumpet just how committed to irrelevance she is. It has allowed others shit for brains progressives to brag on just how effective, the ineffective fast has been. Anyone with common sense reads this shit and just rolls their eyes asking themselves, do these morons have a clue just how stupid they are? LOL, schmucks.

40.gifDear Friends,

Leslie broke bread in Congressman Conyers' office on Friday to end the first phase of her 25 day fast.  Ellen Taylor, her CodePink sister, has stepped up to take the lead in this rolling fast, which will continue until impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney begin
. Over 500 people from across the country have joined Hungry for Justice? Impeach him FAST! by signing up through the CODEPINK Women for Peace website: http://codepinkalert.org/article.php?id=3974

Leslie is feeling better and is more determined than ever to see Congressman Conyers begin impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney.  She and Ellen will continue to visit Democratic Judiciary members' offices to talk about signing the Wexler letter and supporting impeachment hearings.  Representative Keith Ellison signed on last week! http://www.wexlerforcongress.com/news.asp?ItemID=230

These are the Judiciary Committee members who are the most likely to sign onto the Wexler letter.  Many of you have emailed to say you've called them.  THANK YOU!  Please continue to call them ...

  • Rep. Zoe Lofgren (202-225-3072)
  • Rep. Melvin Watt (202-225-1510)
  • Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (202-225-3816)
  • Rep. Bobby Scott (202-225-8351, Mon.-Fri.)
Also, please continue to call Congressman Conyers (202-225-5126, Mon.-Fri.).

Betty Hall, a 14-term legislature from New Hampshire who submitted House Resolution 24 calling for impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney, met with Congressman Conyers' staff early Thursday.

Later that day Betty, Leslie, and Marcia Meyers from "We the People's" National Coalition for Impeachment met with Congressman Wexler.   He expressed his "deep respect" for Leslie's fast and thanked her for her commitment.  The theme of the meeting was how to get impeachment hearings moving forward.  The Congressman listened intently as each of the women spoke and after a few minutes asked his Chief of Staff to come into the room.  They both liked the idea of combining the push for Impeachment with the 5th Anniversary of the war in Iraq.  The momentum is building!

Ellen Taylor was the first person to join Leslie in the fast almost a month ago.  She stopped after ten days to honor a previous commitment to visit her mother in New York.  She will now lead the fast, until the next person steps up.  Ellen says,"We are not just "not eating", we are being present for justice and government accountability, and speaking truth to power in a unique way.  Traditionally Lent is a time of abstinence and cleansing.  This country needs to cleanse itself of the lies and moral corruption of this administration. Chairman John Conyers and the Judiciary Committee must defend our Constitution and start impeachment hearings against Vice President Cheney immediately.  We will fast, and stand fast, until justice is done."

Peace and Freedom,

Jes, Leslie & Ellen
