Bay Area mom goes 25 days without a meal- Conyers Refuses to put Impeachment on the Table

Where: 2426 Rayburn Building
When: 2pm, Friday February 29

Leslie Angeline will break bread in Congressman Conyers office after fasting for 25 days and pass the baton to CODEPINKer Ellen Taylor. Angeline was advised by her doctor to end her fast for now as her health is suffering so Taylor will continue the Hungry for Justice? Impeach him FAST! as a rolling fast, which will end when impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney begin. Over 500 people from across the country have joined the fast in solidarity by signing up throught the CODEPINK Women for Peace website.

Betty Hall, a 14-term legislature from New Hampshire who submitted House Resolution 24 calling for impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney, will also be meeting with Conyers' staff. Leslie, Betty and Marcia from "We the People's" National Coalition for Impeachment met with Congressman Wexler on Thursday to ask what they could do to support his efforts for impeachment hearings.

Angeline met with Cong. Conyers on Friday, February 15. While he was deeply moved by her sacrifice and said he has been getting pressure from people every day, he is still unwilling to commit to impeachment hearings. So Angeline has continued the fast for 25 days and has encouraged others to join. As of today, over 500 people from Vancouver, Washington to Kennebunkport, Maine have joined the fast, with more signing on every day. Angeline has been in Cong. Conyers DC office every day this week, and also pressured other members of the Judiciary Committee, including Rep. Bobby Scott, Melvin Watt and Zoe Lofgren.
