KPFA IPD In Dog Fight With Fired Programmer Peter Laufer:Who is Lying?

by repost
KPFA Interim Program Director Sasha Lilley's hand picked host for replacing Larry Bensky is
now in a contest for who is telling the truth about the firing of Peter Laufer. Lilley who supported the derecognition of the unpaid staff apparently doesn't have much time for
the staff at the station. Laufer was let go without notice and in a phone call while he was
in New York. So much for station integrity. Concerned Listeners should be concerned about how one of their "leaders" treats the staff at the station.
Who Is Lying: Sasha Lilley In Dog Fight With Peter Laufer

PETER PANNED: Last time out, this column featured radio journalist and
talk-show host Peter Laufer assessing the state of radio, from his perch
as host of "Sunday" on KPFA (94.1 FM). Two days before the column
appeared, Laufer lost his perch. He was dismissed, by phone, by Sasha
Lilley, the station's interim PD.

Laufer had been on the job only since June, when he replaced the retired
Larry Bensky as host of the live current-affairs show. He says Lilley
told him that the show was "just not right for Sunday," and that, while
she "admired what you have brought to the airwaves," she also had
received "negative audience feedback."

Asked for a comment, Lilley responded: "KPFA does not comment on
personnel matters. However, the statements that I understand Peter is
attributing to me are not accurate."

Laufer, who stands by his quotes of Lilley, believes the real reason for
his dismissal is "mob rule" at the Pacifica station. "There has been an
active campaign against me by a group of KPFA activists who were miffed
from the day I was hired because I am not a 'person of color' and
because of my 'mainstream' credentials," says Laufer, who's logged time
as a reporter for ABC, CBS and NBC radio.

And this just in:Laufer's on Clear Channel! He and Bob Agnew, PD of
Green 960 (KKGN-AM), agreed to test a talk show on Sunday mornings, 9 to
10 a.m.
