A NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION Music Director, Benjamin Simon Program I: Prodigies, a New Year’s Celebration devoted to Mozart and Mendelssohn, two of the greatest child prodigies the classical world has ever known. As the New Year rolls in, this concert celebrates the eternal youth of these two young geniuses. Benjamin Simon, Conductor Robin Sharp, violin Benjamin Simon, viola Alicia Telford, French horn Mozart: Horn Concerto No. 2 in E-flat Major, K. 417 Mendelssohn: String Symphony No. 9 in C Major Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola in E-flat Major, K. 364 WHEN & WHERE Sunday, December 30, 2007 at 3pm Herbst Theater, 401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco New Year’s Eve – Monday, December 31, 2007 at 8pm First Congregational Church, 2345 Channing Way, Berkeley New Year’s Day – Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 3pm St. Mark's Church, 600 Colorado Avenue, Palo Alto A pre-concert talk precedes each concert 30 minutes prior to the performance. TICKETS All Concerts are FREE of charge SAN FRANCISCO CHAMBER ORCHESTRA The mission of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra is to bring the immediacy and intimacy of music for small orchestra and chamber ensemble to audiences of all age with first-class, admission-free programs in major concert halls around the Bay Area. Through presenting classical, contemporary, and commissioned works, Family Concerts, and outreach programs, the SFCO hopes to educate and enlighten the next generation of music lovers. Founded in April 1953, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra has been led by Benjamin Simon since 2002. Infusing the organization with a renewed energy and commitment to excellence, the SFCO has regained its place among the top local ensembles.
