Pet owners can relax

by D Boyer
Assemblyman Loyd Levine pulls AB 1634 from consideration due to lack of support.
Assemblyman Loyd Levine made the announcement today that he is pulling the bill AB1634 or the California Healthy Pets Act from consideration due to lack of support amongst his constituents.
That bill if passed would have required pet owners to spay or neuter their pets in six months, or face a stiff $500.00 fine. Pet owners could also have submitted some form called the intact animal permit.
Bob Barker from the Price is Right supported that bill, whereas John Provost from the hit TV show Lassie fought against it.

Pet Owners Can Relax?

Perhaps pet owners can relax, but if I were an assemblyman that supported "lightbulb Levine's" goofy ab1634, I would not relax. I will personally walk precints in opposition to Gene Mullin Assemblyman from South San Francisco. I am disgusted with my representatives telling me how they intend to control my life. Representatives were elected to represent their constituents.

yes, I didn't like that bill at all, and I have known people with the job of putting kittens to sleep at the shelters.

First of all, it is inappropriate for the state government to recognize the AKC breeds and only allow them to be unspayed. Next, the really early date by which they need to be operated on was unreasonable, and the fine for not doing it is so high that people would just not license their pets.

Meanwhile, in other areas of our society such as agriculture, there are all sorts of unhealthy, unethical practices going on which aren't corrected at all. Nobody is suggesting requiring the laying hens be given more space
