Three Small Power Plants to be built closer to the Bayview Hunters Point

Yesterday, October 3, 2006 will go down in history as a day in infamy for the constituents of Bayview Hunters Point.

Yesterday, the California Energy Commission chose to give the very corrupt Susan Leal from the SF Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) permission to places 3 Combustion Turbines (CTs) or small power plants closer to Bayview Hunters Point - at Pier 80 on Port property.

The Community has been fighting the CTs.

Not too long ago Espanola Jackson, Dorothey Petterson, Renee Gonsalves, and Francisco Da Costa went all the way to Sacramento to testify that these 3 Combustion Turbines would do more harm then good to San Francisco and in particular the Bayview Hunters Point.

The Racist Mayor Gavin Newsom thinks nothing placing 3 CTs and adversely impacting the Bayview Hunters Point community.

Some of us who were at the Stake Holders meeting with Pacific Gas and Electric, Calfornia Independent Systems Operator (CAISO), other key entities, convinced PG&E to shut down the Hunters Point Power Plant. It shut down some months ago.

Some of us participated with PG&E and the key entities to put the Jefferson-Martin Transmission Line in place.

We also worked to put the Mirant-Hunters Point underground transmission line in place. We are looking forward before 2012 to have a transmission from Pittsburg to Mirant Power Plant area.

We have plenty of sound power plants outside City of San Francisco and good transmission lines inside the City. The City now want to take on PG&E and will fail. They want to take on Mirant Power Plant and they will fail.

We the people will NOT permit the 3 CTs to be builit. These idiots have not heard about PEOPLE POWER!

We really do not need the CTs because they emit very dangerous particulates. Tiny particles that cause cancer and kill human beings and other life.

These CTs are a couple of feet too close to the MUNI Metro East Facility and will harm the workers there by Pier 80 - day and night.

Millions of riders will be impacted as they drive on Illinois Street and be harmed by the very dangerous PM 2.5 particulates. Illinois street will be the new route for millions of vehicles to ply - the 3rd Street will be used for Lightrail in a couple of months.

The Cumulative Pollution of the area has not been taken into account.

We have Concrete Companies, the Darling Tallow Plant, Flares and particulates from the Sewage Treatment Plant, and over other 40 very dangerous polluting sources with a mile from the proposed 3 CTS.

The City of San Francisco is NOT paying attention to this critical factors.

It is wrong to place these 3 Power Plants or CTs and KILL OUR BABIES. SOME ONE HAS BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS.

We have sell outs like Sophie Maxwell, Karen Pierce, Joe Boss, and a host of other Blacks all bought out by the SFPUC.

The mitigation measures are a joke. Some Street Sweeping Machine is supposed to pick up the particulates that kill and cause cancer - to people mostly of color.

The CTs are placed on land that is prone to liquefaction.

The CTs are on SF Port Authority Agency property and do not meet the Burton Act and the Public Land Act mandates. CTs do not contribute to Maritime Uses.

There has NOT been one meaningful dialog with the community. The community has not been informed. Susan Leal, Karen Kubbick, Barbara Hale, Mayor Gavin Newsom, Sophie Maxell, the members of the Power Plant Task Force all have blood on their hands.

I attended some of the meetings and spent many hours speaking the truth and giving the facts. To no avail. It is wrong to pollute our environment and kill our babies.

In the year 2006 the Racist Mayor Gavin Newson continues to act like a Hitler and is on a rampage to wipe out " people of color ". Who will stand up and stop this Caligula?
