On Tuesday, August 1 at 7:00 p.m., Rachelle Marshall, correspondent for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, and Khalil Barhoum, Coordinator of the African and Middle Eastern Languages and Literatures Program at Stanford University, will talk about “Lebanon and Gaza Under Siege” at the Community Media Center in Palo Alto.

As Israel’s massive assaults on Lebanon and Gaza continue, U.S. relations with Europe are near the breaking point. Europe and the United Nations are urgently calling for a cease-fire – pleas that are ignored by the U.S. and Israel.

What is Israel trying to accomplish with its targeting of civilian infrastructure? What are the long-term ramifications for the region? Could events spin out of control? And why does the U.S. appear to be sitting idly by?

Please join us for the next installment of “Other Voices TV,” when two of our most popular guests gather again to discuss the most volatile region in the world.

The program will be broadcast and webcast live on Mid-Peninsula Community Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast throughout August as part of the ongoing “Other Voices” television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
