SF, July 12 to 15 (Wednesday through Saturday)
"Rise Above:
The Tribe 8 Documentary".
Wed.: 2:00*, 7:15, 9:15 p.m.,
Thurs.: 7:15 and 9:15 p.m.,
Fri.: 7:15 and 9:15 p.m.,
Sat: 2:00*, 4:00, 7:15, and 9:15 p.m..
Chronicling SF's most famous Dyke-Punk rock band, Tribe 8.
The film captures the intense energy of live performances, as well as candid moments of band members' lives at work and on the road, and the controversy at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival that landed them in a quagmire of protest and praise from a fiercely divided crowd. It also captures the truly funny and warm people behind the music and the politics. The on-stage antics of blow-jobs, sadomasochistic acts and mock castrations are not about shocking the audience for shock's sake, but can be understood on a deeper level through the band members' personal disclosures. The film reveals how the humor and physicality of their controversial performances give these five individuals the peace to experience the rapture of being alive.

Friday, July 14th, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM:
screwup: BDSM for trannies, genderqueers and their friends, presents...
Disabilities and Kink!
facilitated by Jen & Bequi.
Bequi and Jen are hosting a discussion on BDSM with disabilities.
We will be talking about ways to modify, or rethink play to work with disabled bodies using body positioning and restraints, toys, communication, and more. We will discuss and/or demonstrate ways to play from top or bottom without injuring ourselves in the process.
Come ready to share your experiences and learn from the experiences of others.
Let's try to answer from our own experiences all those embarassing questions we've been afraid to ask about playing with a person with a disability. This will be a great discussion for anyone who has an injury or disability, who plays with someone who does, or who simply wants to learn more about disability in the kink community.
screwup is for trannies, genderqueers, and our friends. This event is open to all genders and will be held in Room 22 at the New College of California. Folks sometimes go out for coffee or food afterwards, so come prepared... it's lots of fun.
$0-5 donation will be accepted to cover the cost of supplies and flyers. No one turned away. The New College of California is wheelchair accessible and has gender-neutral bathrooms!
Please contact screwup [at] screwup.info if you'd like us to arrange for an ASL interpreter, to get involved, make suggestions or with any other requests.
Directions to the New College of California: The MUNI BUS LINES 14, 22, 26, 33, and 49 all run within a few blocks of the New College of California many run within 1 block. Also, BART runs within 3 blocks (exit at 16th and Mission Streets in SF).
Please use public transportation - parking near the New College of California isn't easy.
If you do drive, please be considerate of NCC's neighbors;
don't block driveways, nor park in blue or white zones.

TO SPEAK OF SEX IS TO SPEAK OF POWER... :
statement by SF Dykemarch, 2006:
( Two Thousand and Sex ):
"To speak of sex is to speak of power.
Our society and the systems that support it are mired in a heterosexist, misogynistic worldview
which attempts to strip women of our sexual power.
Dykes experience this first-hand wherever we’re out (or outed).
Women all over the world are denied reproductive and sexual healthcare.... [....]
We speak of sex in 2006 because we must again re-claim publicly that
our bodies and lives belong to ourselves.
We stand together with the strength of articulate dissent, and
refuse to allow others to regulate our bodies or our desires.
We say yes to desire, to sexual need and expression, fierce peace –
yes to owning our power! "
