This multi-generational evening features writings about revolutionary activism. James Scully lived in Chile during the early stages of the Pinochet regime and is the author of the essay collection Line Break: Poetry as Social Practice, and the poetry collections Apollo Helmet and Santiago Poems. Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, who traveled extensively to Nicaragua and Honduras in the 80s, is the author of Blood on the Border: A Memoir of the Contra War and Red Dirt: Growing Up Okie. Kaira Espinoza is a young activist and writer who recently contributed to the anthology Letters from Young Activists: Today's Rebels Speak Out. An interactive discussion about the nature of activism and literature will follow readings by all three writers.
