Crooked developers already tearing down buildings to gentrify the Bayview Hunters Point

by Francisco Da Costa (frandacosta [at] att.net)
Crooked developers are already tearing down buildings without permits and not following the basic health and safety standards. Old buildings have harmful materials like asbestos and the tearing down goes without any watering and dust flying all over the place. Even as the tearing goes down workers without masks work within feet inhaling the dust. No permit signs are posted and the thugs are making hay while the sun shines. I see no leadership in the Bayview to take on the scumbags and SFRA is leading the pack of wolves. Do not ever trust Marciai Rosen the evil woman that heads San Francisco Redelopment Agency in San Francisco and also Sophie Maxwell the inept, dumb, ignorant, and very arrogant Supervisor from District 10.
On 3rd Street the gentrification is on and crooked developers with the blessings of Marcia Rosen are already tearing down buildings. Over 5,000 units are planned all over the Project Area and greedy, blood thirsty developers have lined up to tear down buildings and make money.

The poor and those that need help will be driven out of the Bayview - some will move to 6th Street to live in Single Residency Occupany (SROs) hotels and then move on into oblivion. Most of these poor will be Blacks.

It has happened before in the Fillmore and it will happen if the community does not take the evil doers like Marcia Rosen and Sophie Maxwell a Black sellout to task without wasting time and on a war footing. This is the survival of the Black community and other people of color too.

Other Blacks that belong to the Bayview Hunters Point Project Area Committee (PAC) are sellouts and leading this pack Angelo King. Some thugs that have been to jail - support him. Some took place in the corruption at the SF Airport and these thugs have NOT learnt their lesson.

Sophie Maxwell the District 10 Supervisor must be removed before she sells out the community and what is more destroy it. She is on the take. Sophie is NOT from the Bayview she is transplant and a bad one from Haight Ashbury.

Remember Parcel A on Hunters Point Shipyard. Right now the City's Department Of Public Works is removing old sewer and other infrastructure that is polluted with radiological elements. The constituents of San Francisco are kept in the dark and Mayor Gavin Newsom in playing with fire.

We were told that when the conveyance took place all of Parcel A was clean. Parcel A is NOT clean and so is Parcels B, C, D, E is the worst and then there is F under the Bay.

The City is getting ready with Lennar BVHP LLC to build over 1600 homes in the middle of Chernoby. Lennar is getting ready to build the 49er City. This time the will NOT be able to hood wink the constituents of San Francisco.

All over the Bayview there are over 450 toxic hotspots that the City has not abated, mitigated and cleaned. Now do we expect San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) to do that?

Can anyone trust Marcia Rosen - never. Can anyone trust Sophie Maxwell - not for a quick second. Can anyone trust the SFRA - remember Fillmore!

Francisco, "the Fillmore" was decades ago. You may want to wallow in the past, but the rest of us have moved on. BVHP is a disaster! It needs to be cleaned up, policed, improved, and built up. I'm just really so sorry that your crime-infested projects and other hell-holes will have to be re-done to make that happen. That's evolution, and you need to move on. SF can no longer afford to waste an entire quarter of the city because some people who live there seem to believe that they "own" the neighborhood and have veto rights over everyone else. Sorry, Pancho, but neighborhoods belong to those that live there. People moving in have the same rights as those who are old timers. No one is special. Celebrate diversity!

Mr. Da Costa wrote;

"I see no leadership in the Bayview to take on the scumbags and SFRA is leading the pack of wolves."

Hey bro, i agree with u that urban redevelopment (gentrification) in the hands of politicians and corporations is the worst outcome for lower income communities. However, certain urban writers like yourself continue to use the false analogy of unethical actions by humans compared to wolves (or snakes, rats, hawks, monkeys, etc..), the wild canines nearly extinct from their former habitats by prejudiced humans. Indigenous people of the americas honored and respected the wolves, not trying to force them into extinction with guns and bullets (actions of Euro-american settlers). Since Mr. Da Costa occasionally writes on the plights of indigenous north american peoples, it is surprising that he still uses the comparison of greedy, unethical and sociopath HUMAN BEINGS to the shy, noble and nearly extinct wolves..

Not trying to distract from your article, but i feel the need to speak up for the truly voiceless, the fourleggeds and others in the animal kingdom. Calling cowardly politicians who coerce young people into imperialist warfare "hawks" is another pet peeve. Hawks in reality fly around solitary, hunt for food and fight their own battles. They keep down the population of rodents in farmer's fields and have pretty feathers. Real hawks don't ride around in limos, telling lies on television that force misled youth into military uniforms who end up being exposed to depleted uruanium's radiation in the Iraqi desert. Warmonger politicians like the Bush regime are deceitful cowards, calling them hawks is an insult to the real birds who soar high in the air..

To return to the gentrification of Bayview/Hunter's Point, my opinion is that the residents of HP/BV could benefit from some parks that resemble the original wilderness that pre-dates Columbus arrival. The shut down PG&E plant eventually needs to be torn down, and there needs to be measures to protect from airborne/water pollution, worker exposure to asbestos (& other toxins) and other health risks from the removal of this plight on human health. Restoring the balance of decades of pollution and airborne assaults on human lungs would be a restoration of redwood forests in place of the PG&E plant, emitting filtered oxygen via photosynthesis instead of NOx, CO , etc.. that led to asthma and lung cancer in the HP/BV residents. Trees are filters of airborne and soil pollutants, in effect detoxifying the place where PG&E once polluted. This would also provide a source of fresh oxygen and filtration of the remaining pollutants from other sources, and maybe one day the fish in the SF Bay will once again be edible..

After the PG&E site is cleaned and converted into forest parkland the original residents of the HP/BV housing projects should benefit from the new park site and cleaner air/water/soil since their elders have suffered with PG&E's pollution for so many years previous. To let one group of people (lower income African-americans) inhabit a neighborhood that remains polluted for years, then relocate these residents immediately once the neighborhood is cleaned up, replacing them with wealthy Euro-americans who benefit from the cleaner environment is certainly environmental racism and also a form of slow genocide. Relocating lower income African-americans to another polluted neighborhood after years of exposure to a previously polluted neighborhood increases risks of cancer and other potentially terminal illnesses. Death by a cop's bullet, electric chair or cancer from living in a polluted environment all ends up in the cemetary..

So let's call the politicians and corporate developers who attempt gentrification and profit from environmental racism, imperialism, warfare, etc.. what they are; cowards, greedy, unethical, sociopaths, sick, wicked, twisted, racist, soulless, not worthy of humanity, corrupt, unevolved, deceitful, etc..

There is no animal that i am aware of that should be degraded by comparison to these disgusting and disgraceful humans. Even fecal matter has more value and dignity than the politicians and corporate developers we are discussing. Hopefully my point is clear..
